CCD

If your child/children are in grades K-12, then sign them up to attend CCD classes. These catechism classes teach children all about the past, present, and future of their Catholic faith. CCD classes prepare them for First Communion, Pennance, Confirmation, and life.

We need volunteer CCD teachers for the upcoming school year 2009-2010!
Please call the rectory (228)497-2364 or Mary Ann Mehan at 497-5725 if you would like to teach or co-teach.

RCIA

RCIA, or Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, prepares adults to come into the Church as Catholics. Topics of all areas are covered from a Catholic perspective. Speakers, group discussions, Q&A sessions, and reading material are all part of the program. Classes start in September and conclude in May. During the Easter Vigil Mass, catechumenates enter the Church. Even if you are wanting to know a few answers, you're welcome to attend RCIA classes.
If you are interested in inquiring about the Catholic faith please contact the rectory or Rosemary McWhirter at (228) 447-0278 .

Jackson Country Ultreya

In Activity Center - 7 PM
Second Tuesday of each month, from January - December 2010

An Ultreya is a follow-on activity for those who have experienced a three day Cursillo Weekend, who are called Cursillistas. While the format may vary, there is usually a Bible Reading, then a speaker will talk about his/her post-Cursillo life, followed by some sort of sharing among those in attendance, usually in small informal groups.

Ultreyas are open to all, whether or not one has attended a Cursillo Retreat weekend experience. The idea of Cursillo and Ultreya is to encourage each of us to become better followers of Christ.

The Jackson County Ultreya is held monthly at the Activity Center at St. Mary in Gautier. Each month, the responsibility for running the Ultreya rotates among various parishes in Jackson Country, who provide a moderator and a speaker.

While most attendees are Cursillistas (Catholics who have attended Cursillo), the Ultreya is open to all, whether from St. Mary Parish or not. Parishioners, Cursillista spouses, and friends are welcome to attend, whether Catholic or not.

More information about Cursillo Weekends is found on the Cursillo Website (www.cursillomovementofsouthmississippi.org). The Jackson County Ultreya typically lasts about one hour (7-8 PM), although all are free to socialize longer.
